Keyword Research using Keyword Planner
Alright, so first let’s talk about how you figure out the forecast for the keywords you’ve selected. Then, we’ll look at some alternative methods for doing keyword research. That’s exactly what we’re diving into today, in detail. So, let’s go through it one by one. First up, let’s talk about the Keyword Planner tool—what it is and how it works. Like I mentioned earlier, the Keyword Planner tool is something Google Ads gives us access to for free on their platform. You just enter your primary keyword.
Alright, so what it’s saying is: If that’s the case, then even the related search volume for keywords — that’s something this tool suggests for us before giving keyword ideas.
Keywords vs Queries
But before that, let’s check out the difference between a “keyword” and a “query.” So, keyword plus query — both look pretty much the same. But there’s a small difference: a keyword is basically how someone might call out or describe your product or service. For example, if you’re offering digital marketing services, then “digital marketing” is your keyword. A query, on the other hand, is… (the text cuts off here, but presumably it’s going to explain query in contrast to keyword). In short: keywords are more about the product/service names themselves, like what you want to be found for. Queries are more like actual search phrases or how people ask for those things.
“When folks search for your product or service on a search engine, they usually use keywords connected to Korea. Like, if someone’s hunting for digital marketing in Chennai, they might type in something like ‘Korea digital marketing.’ Advertisers can run ads using specific keywords on sites like Google Ads. So if they use an exact match keyword like ‘digital marketing,’ their ad pops up. Basically, that ad shows when people search stuff like “digital marketing service in Namakkal”.
Discover New keywords
Here’s an idea—you can find out something even if you don’t have a competitor’s website for your business. Just give the URL of another website related to your business, and you can see what kinds of keywords they’re using. Then, you can check the search volume for those keywords, how much competition there is, and all that stuff. After that, get the search volume and run an ad on Google Ads. That way, you’ll definitely know the average monthly search volume for the keywords you want to use because those metrics are important
Get search volume and forecasts
So, first we check the estimated cost per click for that keyword, and then we look at the level of competition for it. Once we know that, if it’s a high-volume keyword, we select it and run ads for it. In that case, your campaign’s cost per click might be higher, but at the same time, conversions will also be higher. I’ll explain all these details when we do keyword research.
Keyword (by relevance)
We’ll focus on keyword relevance — meaning, in your keyword research, we try to find keywords that are relevant to your business. It’s really important to figure out exactly how users are searching for your product or service on search engines. For example, if the keyword is “digital marketing,” a user might search in multiple ways, like “digital marketing agency in namakkal,”or “digital marketing company in Karur,” or “digital marketing service provider in Karur.” So, you need to identify all these variations and then…
When you advertise with our campaign, your campaign will bring you good leads to your business because the user can search for your keyword in the search engine in any way they want. If your ad appears there when they search, then you can definitely convert that customer into your lead. So, to find your relevant keyword, you only need to have the seed keyword of your business.

Average monthly searches
You can only achieve this if you pick a keyword with a good search volume and use it in your campaign. So, if you pick a keyword with a high search volume, then it will reach a lot of your potential customers. Similarly, if you pick a keyword with a low volume, then the reach for it will be small. We should keep in mind that if you pick a high volume keyword, then the competition for it will be high. Similarly, the price for that keyword will also be high. So, we will see everything about this keyword price in our upcoming course. So, you cannot always pick a keyword with a high search volume because this keyword selection will change depending on each business. You can find out the relevance of that keyword based on the monthly search volume, and then you can select that keyword based on the user’s search intent. Next, we’ll look at keyword competition.
Keyword Competition
So, in terms of Google Ads, there are three levels of competition. You see, one is low, the other is medium, and the other is high. So, for a low-volume keyword, the search volume is very low. You see, the medium level is very low. You see, the search volume for that keyword is between 1000 and 10,000. You see, the high level is no limit. So, for a high-volume keyword, Google already sets a price and you can bid at that price. But for a low-volume keyword, the bidding for that keyword depends on who else is bidding for that keyword. In case, the search volume for the keyword you are searching for is very low. If so, they would show a hyphen with a symbol like that, so if they show it like this, then it means that Google doesn’t have data for that keyword. So now you should have understood what keyword competition is.
Ad impression
So you saw ad impressions, then you ran a campaign. How many people did your campaign show to? Ad impressions are a count. For example, if you search for digital marketing namakkal on Google, then every ad that you see without clicking will get an impression. So what does ad impressions indicate? So how many times was your ad displayed to your user? For example, if you go to Google and search for best digital marketing in karur , then you see an ad that is shown there. Then it is an impression. So 1000 members have seen your ad. Then 1000 impressions will come to your ad. So high impressions are available for your campaign. Then there are chances that your campaign will get a lot of clicks.
Top of page bid (low range) & (high range)
Let’s see what low and high range page bidding is. So, according to Google, they will come up with a price for your keyword for low and high range and code it. For example, digital marketing will set a price of ₹100 for such a keyword, for high range they will set a price of ₹40 for low range. So, when you run an ad, you give your bid of ₹100. Then your ad will be shown at the start of Google’s search results. In case you select low range, then your ad will be shown at the bottom of Google’s search results. For example, I am looking for a Social Media Marketing Company in Namakkal. So, if you see this place, then an ad with an agency comes to the sponsored ad. So, these are top level bidding. They must have come and done it. I am looking for AC service in Chennai for low pitching. You came to this place and said, “Sponsored.” Urban Acervicecom Such an ad is appearing. They are coding the lowest pitches in their campaigns. Their ad is appearing last in the search results. So, we can decide where our ad should appear. So, now you will understand what low range and high range pitching are.

For this, go to your Google Ads account, click on Tools and Settings, under Planning, there will be an option called Keyword Planner, just click on it. Here, as I already said, Discover a New Keyword, then Get Search Volume and Forecast. So, if you don’t have a keyword but only a seed keyword, then use the first option. In case, you have all the keywords, you want to see what the search volume is for that, then use the second option. So, today we are going to find a new keyword, so select Discover a New Keyword, then your seed keyword. Enter and find out how much search volume there is for that seed keyword and then what are the relevant keywords for that keyword. We can use the Start with Keyword option. Second, Start with Website. As I already said, if it is not your competitor’s website, then give your website and what kind of keywords they have used on it. Then you can know everything about the search volume for that keyword. So today we are going to use the Start with New Keyword option. Here I am giving Digital Marketing Services In Karurand then Social Media Marketing Services In Karur. So today I am going to find the search volume for these two keywords. Next, it is given in the default location. So you have something specific. What is the search volume for your keyword in the state? Then delete this. Here I have selected Tamil Nadu. Now click on Save.


Next, click on Get Results. So you have seen here. Then it has come with a metric. So I have scrolled a little here. So you have seen here. So Digital Marketing Services In Karur has a monthly search volume of 27100. Similarly, Social Media Marketing Services In Karur has a monthly search volume of 5400. So you have seen the competition for this. Then it is low. Next, you have seen top of the page bidding. Then it is only ₹25. You have seen the top of the high range. Then it is ₹1423 per click. So this is a bit expensive.
